The
Purpose of the Rochester City School
District's Early Childhood Department is
to plan and implement prekindergarten experiences
that meet the development needs of all four year old children in the city including
children with special needs and their families.
Most
Programs are offered for two and a half hours
per day five days per week. Programs are housed in
a variety of sites including elementary schools and
community based organizations. All of the programs
are required to establish partnerships with the families
and the children they serve.
A policy
advisory committee composed of members of the
early childhood community meets monthly to design and
review policy.
Our
Mission:
To empower young children to successfully
contribute to their families, schools, community
and environment.
