What is SES Tutoring?
Supplemental Education Services offers free tutoring to students in English language arts and mathematics. Tutoring is done before school, after school, and/ on weekends. SES Tutoring is designed to help students catch up if they are behind in reading, language arts, and math; it is not meant to be used as homework help. Students are eligible for SES tutoring if they meet the following criteria. They must be enrolled in a low-performing school for two or more years as identified by the New York State Education Department, and they must qualify for free or reduced lunch. Current eligible schools are:
El término servicios educativos suplementarios (SES, por su sigla en inglés) se refiere a la tutoría que se provee a los estudiantes sobre las artes del idioma Inglés y en matemática antes o después de la escuela y/o en los fines de semana. La tutoría del SES está diseñada para ayudar a los estudiantes a ponerse al día si están atrasados en la lectura, las artes del idioma, y en matemáticas. La tutoría del SES no es para ser usada como una ayuda para las tareas. Los estudiantes son elegibles para recibir servicios de clases particulares si: 1) si asisten a una escuela que, durante dos o más años, haya sido señalada como en necesidad de mejoramiento por el Departamento de Educación del Estado de NY y 2)califican para un almuerzo gratuito o a precio reducido.

How do I register my child for tutoring services?
1. Read the information about each provider in the catalog.
2. Call providers if you have specific questions about the services described.
3. Call the Rochester City School District if you have specific questions about how to select the provider that best meets your child’s needs.
4. Complete the registration forms in the catalog, including the application and the lunch form, ranking the top three providers you want to tutor your child. Should a provider not offer tutoring during this school year, your child will automatically be reassigned to his/her 2nd choice.
5. Return both forms using the postage-paid envelope included with this catalog or drop them off in person at the Rochester City School District’s No Child Left Behind Office, 131 West Broad Street, 3rd Floor.

¿Cómo registro a mi hijo para los servicios de tutoría?

Si un proveedor no puede ofrecer la tutoría durante este año escolar, su hijo(a) será asignado automáticamente a su segunda selección.
