Allen was elected to the Board in 2007. He ran on a platform of raising student achievement, increasing parental involvement and providing financial oversight of the District's finances. His goal is to provide the financial and fiscal oversight to ensure that the district becomes a good steward of the public's funds. Allen also wants to align the District's spending with the dual goals of raising student achievement and closing the achievement gap. Allen brings to the Board nearly 30 years of financial, accounting, and strategic planning experience. He has previously worked at JP Morgan & Co., the United States International Trade Commission and the Xerox Corporation.

In addition to serving on the Rochester City School District Board of Education, Allen also serves on the Board of the Landmark Society of Western New York, the ARC of Monroe County and the Urban League of Rochester Economic Development Corporation. As a result of serving on these and other boards Allen has gained valuable experience and learned the importance of developing sound policies to guide the strategic vision of an organization.

He is married to Teresa D. Johnson. They have two sons, both of whom attend Rochester City Schools.

Allen received his BA in Economics from the University of California Irvine and his MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
